Barbados is the most easterly of all the Caribbean Islands. It is a relatively flat island shaped like an upside down leg of ham. English is the official language.
Bridgetown is the Capital and also the largest shopping area. It is located one mile from the terminal.
Pelican Craft Center: Located 5 minutes from the cruise terminal, it is a modern facility dedicated to the arts and crafts, where you can go and see items being made.
Weather: Generally sunny with an average temperature of 75 - 85 degrees.
Beaches: Barbados has 70 square miles of beaches all accessible to the public. The beaches closest to the port are Carlisle Bay, Brandons and Brightons Beach. The nearest beach to snorkel is Folkestone Underwater Park in St James. Topless sunbathing is illegal.
Surfing: Soup Bowl at Bathsheba is where the local and international events are held. Surfboards are available for rent.
Currency: Barbados has their own currency, but US dollars are accepted island wide, and most stores and restaurants accept major credit cards.
Sports: Cricket is one of the leading sports played. Kensington Oval is approximately a 15 mile walk from the terminal.
Gardens: Orchid World, Andromeda Botanic Gardens and Forest World
